We Are Seeing YOU in Philly!

We've made  it to Philadelphia--along with many thousands of other Berners!

It's been a long and very exhausting first day (with record high temps) so the writing will come later. For now, enjoy some photos of some of the excitement we witnessed on the streets and in FDR Park today.

We witnessed the Clean Energy March and some of the rally in the park. Alas, Bernie wasn't there. Word on the street says that we could see him Monday, so we're holding onto that hope.

In the meantime, try to find us in the crowd, the marches, the rallies (or the jail) and talk to us. We'd love to hear from progressive thinkers and discover what they really want to read in future editions of  Our Revolution Continues --The Bernie Blog.  (The how-to-submit page link is on the right sidebar--and so is the "March on DNC" page link. Click on it for info about the various happenings in Philly.)

You can watch many events and marches on Political Revolution TV this week, so we encourage you to do so. You might even see us on You Tube at PRTV.  If so, sign in and chat with us live or leave a comment if you catch us after the fact.

DemocRATS are making this "rat" angry. He says "Write-in Bernie."
Philly is a big place and we're not sure what all is going to happen and who we'll bump into, so sit back and enjoy the ride with us. #OurRevolution has begun in earnest. Power to the people!

Peace, love and progressive thinking be with you always. -- Cindy

Sally, a 92 year old Bernie delegate from New Mexico, sang us an original tune at the rally in FDR Park. Awesome!

Here's an update from Ohio Delegate Dennis Slotnick:

My friends and political activists.

Receiving this message from me means you made it to the select list of those who will be getting regular feedback from the delegation. As unfiltered  the mainstream media. As a Bernie delegate I will do my best to convey what I see and hear during the DNC convention. As a scientist I will do my best to be objective ( but that is virtually impossible in the political realm).

If at any time you would like to not get these or comment on these, let me know by reply.
Here we go!  already we have challenges going in:  VP pick is not sitting well with many Bernie people.  superdelegates may not be eligible to vote, TPP is hottest issue, may get minority mic time.

Attorney general just got notice that Clinton campaign interviened in the election process, biases in DNC in Hillary leaks are breaking news.

Realize anything can happen here. Especially with information technology like never before.

 Feelin' the Bern

Dennis Slotnick,  CD #5 delegate, Ohio
A Berner who brought his llama to talk about the treatment of farm animals. Yes, that's an actual llama in the middle of downtown Philadelphia... Berners go the extra mile to get their message out! Feelin' the Bern indeed!

A Birthday Bash for Bernie

Happy Birthday, Bernie! September 8 is Bernie Sanders' birthday, and his supporters are celebrating it in a variety of ways. Many are donating money to Bernie's campaign on his birthday--$8 on September 8 according to the Facebook moneybomb page. It's amazing how quickly all those thousands of small donations add up! Go to BernieSanders.com to give via Paypal or credit card. Here's a direct link to donate: https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/reddit-for-bernie

Some supporters are posting their well-wishes on Facebook:
Valentina Fiorillo: I would say to Bernie, Thank you for teaching me and the other millennials that this is our country, too. We may be young, we may not have money, but each one of our voices matters more than a dollar does.

C.A.:  Happy birthday to you, Bernie! May you enjoy many, many more as President of the USA! We need your leadership now more than ever. Thank you for running for the White House and giving us all hope that America can be a good and happy land once more. God bless!

Best wishes on your special day, Bernie! We wish you all the best and pledge our support to help you make America a better place to live, work and celebrate our diversity in. --Your friends at The Bernie Blog bernie2016.blogspot.com

Since Bernie's special day comes close to Labor Day--and Bernie supports (see link above) and is supported by numerous unions and labor groups--many supporters walked in Labor Day parades carrying Bernie for President signs or held picnics where they could chat with other voters about Bernie's vision.

Here are some photos from the Bowling Green (Ohio) Pride Picnic held this past weekend. For Bernie's birthday, we played a traditional birthday party game to celebrate: Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Except this game had a twist, and the "donkey" (Democratic Party symbol) is implied. Welcome to the new game of "Pin the Tie on Bernie"!

First, you start with a great image from Stencils from Bernie to create your "Bernie" (complete with fuzzy hair, cool specs and peace sign hand) and his "ties"...

Then you take it to the park...

And ask people to play...

The young and the young at heart...

It's not as easy as it looks!

Jamie watches the intense game action.
Adrian chats with our new friends.

We had a great time at the B.G. Pride Picnic. Lots of folks are excited about Bernie Sanders running for the White House. Since this was our first time doing anything to promote a political candidate, we weren't sure if we were up to it, but you know what? It isn't all that hard to do. Bernie's policies are so upbeat and positive that they really share themselves. Who doesn't want a more compassionate America? So, don't be shy! Get out and talk with your fellow Americans and share information about Bernie Sanders. You might even make a new friend--or form a "Bernie Bond"--while you're helping build a better America.
We dare you to make a "Bernie Bond" today!

Happy Birthday to Senator Bernie Sanders, our next president!

The Amazing Creativity of Bernie Supporters

Bernie Haiku by Erica Williams

One thing we learned from the recent Bernie Sanders get-togethers is that supporters of Bernie Sanders are an extremely creative and enthusiastic people. (Our new site banner above was created by Bernie supporter Jane Jefferies, for instance.) It’s refreshing in this day and age of “snarky” commentary and negativity in the media to come across folks full of such great joy, eager to share the good news of Bernie’s White House bid with others. They’re generally an optimistic bunch. They feel that our country will become a better place for all under Bernie’s leadership—and it will happen very, very soon!

An online “contest” to create haikus about Bernie Sanders yielded some excellent examples of their creativity. Here’s a sampling for your enjoyment:

Bernie Haikus by Charlotte Bierman

Blue moon, our moon, EARTH
Climate change, pollution CHANGE
BERNIE, help us CHANGE !

Schools, healthcare, labor
Rebuild infrastructure too
Bernie President

Enough is enough
We the people say enough
Bernie Sanders yeah !

Bernie Haikus by Katarina Stenstedt

A fair living wage
and health insurance for all
—what's crazy 'bout that?

Super PACs aren't fair
And money can't buy justice.
Come back down to earth!

Haikus by Jane Stackowicz Ganser

All that Bernie is
And what our country should be
Are one and the same

Enough is enough
The wise leader proclaimed
Let’s change history

You really like Bernie
But don’t know if he can win
He will if you vote

Greed is the disease
America has fallen
We need Bernie Now

Bernie Haiku by L. Graykin

He who stands for us
Deserves our full support
Vote #BernieSanders!

Bernie Haikus by Verena Hodge

fresh air fresh water
all future generations
should have these things

Bernie tells it straight
with wild hair and forceful words
working with us all

rock the boat
the ripples in the water
will become a tidal wave

Bernie Haiku by Frank Binda

Ninety Nine Per Cent
Will be smiling ear to ear
In fifteen short months

Bernie Haiku by Christina Nespoux

Bernie's message ignites our hearts and minds
A modern day Robin Hood
Greed and corruption will see its end

Bernie Haiku by b8akaratn

I want a country
I can be proud of again
Please fix it, Bernie

Bernie Haikus by Brainstorming for Bernie ( brainstorm4bernie.com)

check Bernie's record
he is sincere, and listens
he will work for us

climate action
income equality
right to health care

serious debate
problems to fix, not ignore
Bernie fights for us

millions of people
a political movement
to break corruption

From the traditional haiku, to the modern stage musical, another Bernie supporter turns his talents to “filking” new lyrics to a classic from Les Mis. (I can’t stop singing it!)

Do You Hear America Sing?

(Sung to the tune of Do You Hear The People Sing? from Les Misérables)

New words by A. J. Matthews

Do you hear America sing?

We’re gonna see a good man win!

It is the music of a people

Who will not be duped again!

When the beating of your heart

Echoes the beat of Bernie’s drums

There is a life about to start

When November comes!

Will you join in our crusade?

Who will be strong and stand with me?

Somewhere beyond the Facebook page

Is there a world you long to see?

Then join in the fight

That will give the White House to Bernie!

[All:]

Do you hear America sing?

We’re gonna see a good man win!

It is the music of a people

Who will not be duped again!

When the beating of your heart

Echoes the beat of Bernie’s drums

There is a life about to start

When November comes!

Will you give all you can give

So Bernie Sanders may succeed?

A better way to live

Will you stand up and state your need?

Reform this great nation and terminate corporate greed!

[All:]

Do you hear America sing?

We’re gonna see a good man win!

It is the music of a people

Who will not be duped again!

When the beating of your heart

Echoes the beat of Bernie’s drums

There is a life about to start

When November comes!

When the counting’s done!

From poetry to songwriting to performing, Schmaltz and Schlepper in their Weekends For Bernie video sing and rap their fantastically funky tune, Whatta Mensch. Click on the link and get ready to start dancing: http://www.weekendsforbernie.com/whatta-mensch.html

You said it, ladies!

Have you created something unique that expresses your support for Bernie Sanders' presidential candidacy? Tell us about it in the comments below (share a link to it if you can) or email it to us at The Bernie Blog. We plan to post more haikus, short poems, song lyrics, graphics, and whatever else you care to submit throughout the campaign. After all, Bernie supporters are creative people, and we shouldn’t keep Bernie to ourselves—we need to share him with the world!

Got an upcoming Bernie Sanders-related event you'd like to share? Let us know. Here are a couple events coming up in the Northwest Ohio area:
