“Any Excuse To Bomb, Starve, Maim, Torture, or Rape Will Do”

Once upon a time there was a violent and spoiled brat named Benji. Benji lusted after his neighbor’s things. He wanted to play in his neighbor’s yard any time he wanted to without asking permission. He longed to beat up and terrorize his neighbors any time he felt like it, particularly one neighbor. Benji held a long held grudge against this neighbor because he coveted this neighbor’s yard and things the most. But he couldn’t go it alone—he needed help in doing so with minimum injury to himself.
So Benji went to his mother, Usa, to ask for her help.
Benji: I need more bombs to blow up the neighbors. Give them to me!
Usa: Okay, just give me a moment to gather them up. Now, don’t do anything foolish with those bombs that could reflect badly on either me or you.
Benji: I will do whatever I want. I’m special. Anything I want, I get.
Usa: Yes, I know, but you have to give a little in return. You have to let me have access to your room from time to time for my purposes and—
Benji: Yeah, yeah, whatever! Where are the bombs? I need them now.
Usa: Hold on, hold on… [The phone rings. She answers it.] Hello. What’s that, Mrs. Icici? Benji has a what out on his head? A warrant for genocide? He’s been allowing his gang to do what to the neighbor’s kids? Rape? Torture? Maiming? Stealing their pocket money and bombing their lunch boxes?
Benji: Hurry up! These people don’t just kill themselves! You’re cramping my style.
Usa: (Still on the phone.) All right, Mrs. Icici. I’ll let him know. But I’ll have you know that I don’t appreciate your tone. Benji and I have a perfectly respectful relationship. I can’t believe all the lies you’re saying about him. You’re just trying to blame him for everything that goes wrong in the world. It’s all the other kids’ fault anyway. They’re all terrorists and monsters. Good-bye!
Benji: Finally! Give me the bombs and then get back to doing what you do best.
Usa: (Handing the armaments to him.) What’s that, dear?

Sunday
was the last peace demonstration sponsored by the Northwest Ohio Peace
Coalition. At least for now it is. Hopefully by the time this blog is posted a
local activist will have picked up the reins and organized the next
outing. It's not like there's been a total and complete ceasefire and an end to
all armed conflicts on this planet in the last twenty-four hours. With Biden's
administration launching bombs on Iranian-sponsored groups in Syria, peace
protests and activism are needed now more than ever. (Read: Biden's Bombing of Iraq and Syria Only Serves the Weapons Industry Funding Both Parties.)
The
demos in recent years took place on Sundays at noon at the corner of Secor Road
and Central Avenue, in front of the Key Bank in the Westgate shopping area of
Toledo. It's a very busy intersection. The "Honk for Peace" signs get
a lot of responses. But the originators of the Peace Coalition feel that it's
time for new blood--read, "younger blood"--to come in and take over
and invigorate the group.
Many I
spoke with last Sunday said they wanted the Peace Coalition to be known for
more than just standing on street corners holding signs and waving at
passers-by. They wanted to inspire others to take action. They wanted to teach
others how to hold our government accountable whenever it takes arms against
other peoples or even our own people, as in the case of police violence against
Black Lives Matter marchers and indigenous oil pipeline protesters.
The
Northwest Ohio Peace Coalition began shortly after the events of 9/11 and
vigorously protested the start of the Iraqi War for Oil. There were large
displays of tombstones and boots demonstrating the numbers killed. There were
sit-ins of elected officials' offices and arrests made to call attention to the
cause for peace. There were buses full of local peace activists heading to Washington
DC to march in the streets.
There's
great hope there will be similar anti-war activism in the area again--and possibly even greater activism. Now is not the time to be shy. Now is the time to speak out and show up. See you on the corner, in the streets, at the courthouse, sitting-in at your Congressmember's office...

The beautiful, iconic monarch butterfly is introduced to most people in
early childhood, whether it's in a picturebook or someone's garden. But they may be going the way of history books
if the United States Fish and Wildlife Service continues their delay in
designating these creatures as endangered, and affording them all the
protections that status would give them. The agency wants to wait four entire years before considering legal preservation for monarch butterflies, even though many scientists say the species has reached the threshold of quasi-extinction — aka the point of no return.
Beyond their beauty, monarch butterflies play a vital role in our
environment and its various cycles. They are pollinators, bringing to
life beautiful wildflowers and other plants. They are also an important
food source for many other insects, birds, and small animals. But
climate change, thousands of acres of habitat loss, and a decrease in
milkweed — the sole source of food for monarch caterpillars — are
leading to the quick demise of these important creatures. The
two migratory populations of monarch butterflies in the United States
have fallen by 80% and 99%. There is clearly no time to delay. Tell the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to classify and protect monarch butterflies as an endangered species NOW!

All student loan debt hasn't been cancelled as promised by Biden during the presidential campaign.
We didn't realize the $2000 stimulus check as promised in January by Biden and Harris while campaigning in the Georgia special election.
Medicare For All has yet to be enacted in spite of promises made along the campaign trail.
Enacting a $15 an hour minimum wage seems to be a thing of the past for Dems--no matter if they claimed to support it in 2020.
Police officers and others are still getting away with murder of minorities.
And there are still kids in cages.
Who or what can you believe?
We could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. You can only believe in yourself. Any conflicting information you read and hear in the mainstream media only provides further proof that they're in on the con.
The mainstream media will take the contradictions inadvertently revealed by those in power and manufacture them into a cover story full of misdirection and half-truths--Russia!--rather than actual facts. These spin doctors are so good at what they do that they will make you question your own memory and your own sanity if you let them.
The solution? Cut back or stop altogether watching and reading mainstream media outlets. Stop allowing their talking heads to fill yours with their nonsense. It's only going to give you a headache.
What can you do to find out what's really happening in the world? Find as many independent media outlets as you can broadcasting a news story and learn to trust your instincts when comparing sources. Who makes money if you follow this particular media outlet's lead? And if something coming out of the mouth of a politician or an extremely well-paid pundit sounds unbelievable or is later proven false, don't hesitate to refute them or boycott them.
There's no reason for anyone to put up with liars, no matter how apparently high ranking or famous they are. Always insist on integrity. If more of us did this more often, what a wonderful world this would be.

Five states and hundreds of cities nationwide have cracked down on
flavored tobacco products. And last year, for the first time ever, the
U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to end the sale of
flavored tobacco.
2021
could be the year we finish the job and finally stop Big Tobacco from
luring and addicting our kids with flavored products. But it won’t
happen without a grassroots army demanding action. That’s where you come in.
That’s what Postmaster General Louis DeJoy
told Congress last month during a hearing into unprecedented service
cuts and mail delays under his leadership of the United States Postal
Service.
DeJoy is a Republican mega-donor who has given over $2 million to the Trump campaign and other Republican causes since 2016.
Last year, Public Citizen helped file a lawsuit in federal court — in
which we prevailed — to stop DeJoy from disrupting mail delivery leading
up to the November election.
Now, DeJoy is about to propose additional changes that could delay the mail even more.
Too many Americans count on the Post Office to leave it in the hands of
a Trump sycophant who seems bent on running the agency into the ground.
